UC Riverside Student Convinces Kidnapper to Let Her Go: Police

A UC Riverside student who was grabbed, bound and taken in a car apparently convinced her kidnapper to let her go near campus Sunday, police said.

The female student was inside the off-campus University Towers parking garage around 4:17 p.m. when a man in his late 20s to early 30s, dressed in all black, grabbed and placed her in his Nissan Sentra, according to a news release from the Riverside Police Department.

Authorities said the student was bound and driven around before she was returned to the parking garage. She told police that she stayed calm and somehow convinced the man to let her go.

The man had medium length dirty blonde hair and was driving a 2009 or newer charcoal gray four-door Sentra, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Riverside Police detectives at (951) 353-7134 or (951) 353-7135.
