LAPD Gets a Lamborghini Gallardo

“You can run, but you can't hide,” the LAPD said on social media

New to the land of high-speed pursuits is the Los Angeles Police Department’s latest addition to its fleet of vehicles: a Lamborghini Gallardo, decked out with the department’s traditional black-and-white paint and “To Protect and to Serve” written on its sides.

The LAPD is showing off what is sure to be one of its most exotic vehicles by using the hashtag #LAPDLambo on social media. The LAPD Lamborghini has its own Twitter and Instagram accounts, as well as its own website.

But don’t count on seeing the Lamborghini flying down the 101 Freeway in hot pursuit or offering criminals a luxurious ride back to the police station. Nathalie and Travis Marg of Light Source 1, Inc. donated the use of their Lamborghini to serve charitable events for the LAPD Air Support Team, the department said.

“You can run, but you can't hide. Makes you wanna join #LAPD, doesn't it?” LAPD’s Rampart Division said in an Instagram post.

A 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo starts at about $182,000. According to the LAPDLambo account on Instagram, no tax dollars were spent on the vehicle.

The LAPD Lamborghini is set to make an appearance at the Los Angeles County Air Show at Fox Field ini Lancaster on March 21-22.
