Katie Holmes is coming home.
Rejoice, Joey Potter fans. The beloved "Dawson's Creek" star is set to make her return to TV!
Holmes is set to star in a buzzed-about drama pilot for ABC, E! News has confirmed.
U.S. & World
The juicy drama, which comes from "Behind the Candelabra's" Richard LaGravenese, is set in modern-day New York City and has a similar premise to the film "Dangerous Liaisons" (or "Cruel Intentions"), with a diabolical duo making a bet to destroy a woman's perfect marriage. Said woman? Holmes' Ann!
Well-bred, smart and stylish, Ann runs a philanthropic foundation with her husband, and becomes the target of the bet between Philip (to be played by Rufus Sewell) and Margot (yet to be cast) to reveal the lie of love. However, Ann will soon become a match for Phillip, meaning we'll get to see quite the racy side of Holmes. (We. Can't. Wait.)
Should the currently-untitled project be picked up to series by ABC at their Upfronts presentation in May, it will be Holmes' first regular TV gig since saying goodbye to the "Creek" in 2003. Since leaving the Dawson-Joey-Pacey love triangle behind, Holmes has made a high-profile guest appearance on "How I Met Your Mother" and played Jackie Kennedy in "The Kennedys," ReezlChannel's miniseries.
Holmes isn't the only "Creek" alum on the small screen: James Van Der Beek's new CBS sitcom "Friends With Better Lives" debuts later this month, Busy Philipps is starring on TBS' "Cougar Town," and Josh Jackson is set to star in Showtime's "The Affair" after spending five years on Fox's Fringe.
