Japan Quake Upgraded to Magnitude 9.0

Japan’s devastating quake Friday was actually 1.5 times stronger than initially reported and is now believed to be the world’s fourth largest quake on record, The Associated Press reported. The U.S. Geological Survey followed Japan’s Meteorological Agency Monday in upgrading the magnitude of Friday’s monster quake to 9.0 from 8.9. Revisions of magnitudes are common when more information becomes available, according to the AP.
