Iran's Supreme Leader Accuses U.S. of “Deception”

A Twitter account associated with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday slammed a letter by Republican senators threatening to undo any nuclear deal between Washington and Tehran, saying the U.S. "has a habit of a deception and treason,” NBC News reported. A tweet also called accusations that Iran is linked to terrorism "cheap and despicable." Khamenei is the ultimate authority on all Iranian matters of state. The letter, signed by 47 Republican senators, warned Iran that any nuclear deal made with President Barack Obama could last only as long as he remained in office — an unusual intervention into U.S. foreign policy-making. The White House has described the GOP's letter as "reckless" and "irresponsible.”
