iPad Mini's $329 Price Isn't Competitive

The iPad Mini, priced at $329, just can't compete with cheaper Android tablets, at least according to one report.

Apple frequently has pricier hardware than other manufacturers and often touts its quality, according to CNET. But at a $329 starting price, the iPad Mini is double the cost of lower-end tablets.

Rumors are flying that the Google event next week in New York will feature a $100 Nexus tablet. Whether that's true or not, several Android tablets, such as the $199 Nexus 7 tablet by Asus, have the $329 price tag beat. And let's face it, there's nothing revolutionary about the iPad Mini that makes tablet users have to have it (its display is actually lower-resolution than some cheaper tablets.) Even those who love Apple may find that the new $299 iPod Touch is a better buy.

Despite logic, some will still buy the gadget, but the majority of regular folks likely will not unless it becomes much more attractive in price or gains hard-to-get features.
