Increase in Security Fees Means Pricier Airline Tickets

The TSA is poised to raise security screening fees to $5.60 each way from the current $2.50 each way, meaning airline passengers will have to pay more for their tickets. Congress ordered the TSA to increase the fee as part of a budget deal in December. A spokeswoman for Airlines for America, an industry trade group, said the changes will hurt people in smaller cities who have to take more one-way flights to reach their destination.
