Victim in Hawthorne Plane Crash Identified as Once-Contestant on ‘The Bachelor'

The pilot killed in the crash of an ultralight plane near Hawthorne Municipal Court was a contestant on the ABC dating series "The Bachelor," according to a report published Tuesday.

The pilot was identified by the Daily Breeze as Erin Storm, citing information from Matt Grant, the bachelor on her season, and friends. Storm was eliminated in the third episode of the 2008 season of "The Bachelor."

Grant told the syndicated entertainment news program "Entertainment Tonight" he was "massively shocked, devastated for her family and friends."

"We were lucky to have Erin on Season 12," Grant told "Entertainment Tonight.'' "She was genuine, self-assured, beautiful and hilarious.''

The Airborne XT-912 crashed around noon Monday about a quarter-mile off the west end of the airport.
Los Angeles County firefighters put out the flames and freed the woman from the wreckage, said county fire Capt. Keith Mora. The pilot was the only occupant aboard the aircraft.

The pilot was in full cardiac arrest when she was freed from the wreckage and taken to the hospital by paramedics, according to authorities. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, according to authorities.
