A SPIRITED OUTING? It's a tempting notion that could mean that A) you're somewhere that's lively, among friends, and enjoying great conversation or B) you're somewhere where adult beverages are on the pour, as in the spirits found in bottles or C) you're at a spot that is rocking a spooky vibe. What if, though, you could combine all three spirit-focused themes into one memorable get-together with your best fiends, er, friends? You can,

THIS SUMMER, at "California's Spookiest and Strangest Themed Bars," which will be the phantom-fabulous focus of a panel at Midsummer Scream in early August 2019. The Halloween-everything expo returns to Long Beach on Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4. And if you have an affinity for bars with an otherworldly character, those get-together hangouts that boast a bit of ghostly glam, then find your way to a seat for the Aug. 3 panel, which will include visiting spirits from Buena Park's The Cauldron, Phantom Carriage of Carson, Lost Spirits Distillery (that's in LA), The 4th Horseman in Long Beach, and Beetle House LA.

THE CONVERSATION... will surely focus on how a visionary makes a teeth-chattering tavern, from the eerie atmosphere to the drinks to the eats. And how such spooky spots keep the local spirits high even beyond autumn and the Halloween season. For these chilling pubs keep on haunting throughout the calendar, and not just in October. How, though, to float into your own seat for this spirited scene?

A TICKET... to Midsummer Scream is the first step, and then arriving early for the sure-to-be-popular panel is step #2. So do you like grown-up beverages and an eeky scene year-round? Surely you'll want to get acquainted with these strange bars, distilleries, and eateries, and the imaginative spirits who bring them to life.
