Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was reunited with her astronaut brother-in-law Scott Kelly for the first time since Giffords was shot two and a half months ago. A spokesperson for Giffords said Monday that Giffords was “beaming. There were a lot of broad smiles.” Kelly was in the midst of a five month space mission during the initial shooting and said it was “difficult” being in space during the whole ordeal. Meanwhile, a judge has ordered the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, to undergo a mental evaluation to establish if Loughner is competent to stand on trial, CNN reports.
