First-Ever Santa Barbara Restaurant Week on the Way

Nosh around at 30+ restaurants and help raise funds for Thomas Fire relief efforts.

DINING OUT AROUND THE AMERICAN RIVIERA? You can accurately guess that the gourmand vittles you'll find will be enticing and interesting and fresh and flavorful. But knowing that you can enjoy those eats while supporting an event that's supporting a community as it recovers from the Thomas Fire and flooding is the greatest good, one that many people in Santa Barbara and beyond have wished to do. That wish can be translated into action as of Friday, Feb. 23, when the first Santa Barbara Restaurant Week began. It'll last longer than a week, like so many Restaurant Weeks seem to do nowadays, and it covers not one but two weekends, if getting to the town is something you can only do on a Saturday or Sunday. Final day of the prix fixe specials and deals? Sunday, March 4 is the date to keep in mind. As for participating restaurants? There are over 30 in all including Chuck's Waterfront Grill (think fresh seafood) and Los Arroyos (yummy gourmet Mexican classics). Best of all is that...

HALF OF THE PROCEEDS... from the event's registration fees will go to the California Restaurant Association Foundation's grant program, Restaurants Care. The program "... offers financial relief for restaurant/hospitality workers who experience losses during the Thomas Fire and Mudslide," and it invites workers to apply for grants totaling up to $1,000. If you vowed to return to Santa Barbara, wanting to help the area following the fire and flooding, there couldn't be a more perfect time than during this large-scale, give-back, dine-out spectacular.
