FAA Drone Lawsuit Could Have Widespread Impact

A man in Texas is suing the Federal Aviation Administration in a quarrel that could influence the use of civilian drones across the U.S., NBC News reported. At the heart of the legal battle is Texas EquuSearch, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that operates drones in search and rescue missions. The FAA has called the group's use of drones illegal, citing a 2007 law which prevents unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from being used for businesses. A lawyer who is fighting for small-drone pilots says the UAVs could save lives and that the FAA is overstepping its bounds.
