Emmy Rossum Fires Back Against Anti-Semitic Tweets From Trump Supporters

The 'Shameless' star said she's faced vile attacks from Donald Trump supporters following the election.

"Shameless" star Emmy Rossum is firing back against a slew of anti-Semitic tweets directed at her following the presidential election.

Rossum, who believes the tweets are coming from Donald Trump supporters, said one social media troll told her to "get ready for the trains," referencing trains used to take Jews to concentration camps during the Holocaust.

Rossum was both a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton and a vocal detractor of Trump's in the months leading up to the election. She described herself in one post as a Jewish woman engaged to an Arab American who was also the victim of sexual violence. "It's personal," Rossum wrote.

Rossum, who also starred in the film adaptation of "The Phantom of the Opera," is engaged to "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail. The actress reported the social media trolls to Twitter and several of the accounts now appear to be suspended.

While the attacks on Rossum's Twitter account was particularly vile, she's far from the only celebrity to face backlash following the election. Several vocal Clinton supporters, including Lena Dunham, Madonna and Lady Gaga have been trolled following Trump's victory. One poster on Dunham's account suggested she start "packing her bags for Canada."
