Crews Rescue Stuck Horse From Mud in Palm Beach County

Florida firefighters rescued a 25-year-old horse that got stuck in the mud early Monday morning in Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews responded to the property on 47th Court North in The Acreage, about 80 miles north of downtown Miami, just before 9 a.m. Monday after reports that "Skip" the horse was submerged in the mud, NBC affiliate WPTV reported.

Firefighters began digging the horse out using hand tools before getting straps around the animal to pull it from the mud using a "pulley system," Capt. Albert Borroto said, WPTV reported.

A veterinarian sedated the horse and rescue crews were able to pull it out of the mud. Skip was evaluated by the vet and is doing well, Borroto said.
