Bret Michaels Breaks Through to “Apprentice” Finale

Rock star to face off against actress Holly Robinson Peete

Rock star Bret Michaels stayed on pace to make a dramatic TV return on next week's finale of "the Celebrity Apprentice."

In a show taped months before the Poison singer suffered a near fatal brain hemorrhage, Michaels made it to the final round as Donald Trump sent three competitors packing. Next week's season-ender will air live, with Michaels facing model  Holly Robinson Peete.

"I came in here as a complete underdog," said Michaels in the boardroom when he heard the news from host Trump. "You know what everyone's mistake was? They so underestimated me!"

All of the season except the finale was taped last year, with the results kept under wraps. Michaels suffered the hemorrhage on April 22, but has since made a stunning recovery. His friends have said he intends to make it back for Sunday's finale and then resume his concert tour.

“What he’s done is amazing,” Trump told Access Hollywood last week. “He had, essentially, an explosion in his brain and he’s really doing better. He’s having a little bit of a difficult time, but he’s really doing better and I know one thing, I don’t know if it’s going to happen, but he wants to be ... on the finale of ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ He wants to be there.”

Fired on Sunday's edition were wrestler-model Maria Kanellis, Australian chef Curtis Stone, and rock-star wife and TV personality Sharon Osbourne.

Michaels, a father of two and VH1 "Rock of Love" bad boy has had a long history of medical issues, including Type 1 diabetes.

If the rocker proves successful in the finale, his winnings will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
