Baghdad Blasts Kill at Least 95

Spike in violence after U.S. troops begin withdrawal

A truck bomb rocked Iraq's Foreign Ministry mid-morning Wednesday, killing at least 95 people and wounding more than 400 in what was the deadlist day in the capital since U.S. troops mostly withdrew from cities in late June, The AP reported.

The attacks hit government and commercial buildings in and around the Iraqi capital's Green Zone, with the deadliest blast occurring near the Foreign Ministry.

The bombings were the latest in a series of attacks in Iraq's capital this month that have been responsible for the death of hundreds.

The spike in violence has raised concerns that Iraqi security forces will not be able to keep a lid on sectarian tensions once American troops complete a planned withdrawal.
