Analysis: Santorum Begins Iowa Campaign Without Key Staff

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum announced his second White House bid Wednesday afternoon, but several key campaign staffers and strategists from his 2012 campaign have defected to rival Republican candidates, according to an analysis from NBC's Meet the Press. None of Santorum's 2012 Iowa staff — the architects of his surprising second-place showing there — are currently working for his nascent campaign; two are now working for the campaign of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. "He's got a group telling him, 'You got to run. We'll get the band back together.' Guess what? There is no band," one Iowa Republican operative who supported Santorum but is now backing a rival campaign told NBC News.
