Dramatic Rescue Caught on Video After Woman Falls Off Roof, Becomes Trapped Between Buildings in Brooklyn

A woman was seriously injured after she fell off the roof of her four-story apartment building in Brooklyn Monday night and became trapped in the space between her building and the one next door, her roommate and the FDNY say.

The woman, in her 20s, fell off the roof of her building on Madison Avenue in Bushwick late Monday, officials say.

Dramatic video of the rescue obtained by NBC 4 New York shows firefighters shining flashlights into the dark space between the buildings, illuminating the woman's face as she lay trapped.

The video then shows firefighters move down to rescue her, placing her on a stretcher as they navigate the extremely narrow space in the dark. After considerable maneuvering, they remove her from the crevice off camera and bring her to safety.

The woman's roommate said they were having a birthday party and that she had gone to the roof to smoke, then slipped and fell off the building.

The roommate said the woman was taken to the ICU and has several broken bones.

The building's property manager said it's believed the woman fell out of a window while trying to retrieve video games she or her roommate had thrown out of their apartment during a fight.

The manager said he heard them talking about how to get to the games before the fall.
