Wilton Woman Loses Arm in Pit Bull Attack

A Connecticut woman lost one arm and part of another when her pet pit bull brutally attacked her Monday, police said.

Lt. Donald Wakeman told the Hearst Connecticut Media Group that Wilton resident Anne Murray, 65, also had bite wounds all over her body.

Police responded at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. The first police officer who arrived at the scene shot and killed the dog. Police officials said the officer determined the dog was an immediate threat.

The victim was underneath a car in a driveway and trying to protect herself when the officer arrived.

Wilton EMS took the woman by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries. She was in stable condition.

Officials said the dog's remains will be tested for rabies.
