Clinton and Sanders Leave Iowa in a ‘Virtual Tie'

Hillary Clinton's slim victory over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Iowa Caucuses are, in the words of Sanders, a virtual tie, NBC News reported.

The Democratic battle in Iowa was so close that both Sanders — the 74-year-old socialist with no major endorsements — and Clinton left the state without a clear-cut victory and the race was too close to call when both candidates left the state for New Hampshire.

Aboard a charter jet bound for New Hampshire, Clinton Press Secretary Brian Fallon told reporters that "we believe strongly that we won."

"Its not clear post-Iowa what Senator Sanders' path to victory is," Fallon added. And then, around 4:00 a.m. ET the Iowa Democratic Party announced Clinton as the victor.
