‘Say Cheese': Chicago Rescue Pup's Smile Goes Viral

The eight-second clip has since received more than 13 million Facebook views

Forget puppy eyes. One Chicago pup has a smile that has the Internet swooning.

Herbert, a 5-month-old rescue, is caught on camera flashing a big grin for a treat as he's asked to "say cheese." The eight-second clip was posted to Facebook on Jan. 9 and has since garnered more than 13 million views.

Oddly enough, Herbert was, in fact, smiling for a piece of cheese, according to rescue group Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) Chicago.

Herbert was rescued from Chicago’s city pound just before Christmas, according to Sarah Ahlberg McDonald, associate director of media and community relations for PAWS.

The pup was recovering from the dog flu and needed to be placed in a foster home away from other dogs. The woman who originally posted the video, Amanda Robles, and her mother took Herbert in last week.

McDonald told NBC Chicago that Herbert, an American Staffordshire mix, will be available for adoption within the next two weeks.
