New York City will pay $3.75 million to a man who spent almost 17 years in prison before he was exonerated of a 1997 fatal shooting.
Comptroller Scott Stringer announced the payment to Roger Logan Friday.
His lawyer told The New York Times he has also settled a case with the state for $2.975 million.
A unit dedicated to reviewing old convictions in the Brooklyn district attorney's office turned up new evidence that weakened the credibility of an eyewitness.
Logan walked out of court a free man last June after prosecutors asked a judge to release him.
He had served nearly 17 years of a 25-year-to-life sentence.
