Reward Growing in Beating Death of Broward Dog

Outrage over the beating death of a dog in Broward County, Florida, has led to a growing reward that authorities hope will catch his killer.

Police in Pembroke Pines have set up a reward account due to an "overwhelming public concern" in the death of Fox, who was found dead with a handwritten note attached to his body that read, "WE BEAT IT 2 Death lol!"

Officers found the body of the 13-year-old Pomeranian over the weekend less than a day after he went missing. A veterinarian found Fox had multiple fractures, 10 broken ribs, missing teeth and a broken back. The vet said he was likely kicked to death.

The Facebook page "Justice for Fox the Pomeranian" had more than 1,300 likes Wednesday. Fox's owner, Ronald Boisvert, said he started the page Tuesday night to gather information to find the culprits. He thinks they are local because Fox was not wearing a collar when he disappeared yet was returned to his home.

The Broward County Crime Stoppers reward fund has been increased to $8,000. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 towards the reward, and an additional reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
