Protesters and City Leaders Urge for Calm After Police Shooting of Minneapolis Man

Demonstrators and officials are urging protesters to stay calm after a night of violence in Minneapolis — which included "Molotov cocktails" thrown at police, NBC News reported.

Crowds have been protesting the shooting death of an unarmed black man during a struggle with a police officer.

"I hope and pray there will be justice for Jamar, but at the same time I pray for peace" for the community, said Ezra Hyland, who has helped organize Black Lives Matter demonstrations after the shooting.

No arrests were made, but one police officer was treated for reaction to a chemical irritant sprayed by some protesters, officials said Thursday.

Jamar Clark, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the head on Sunday. Protesters are demanding that police release the video of the shooting. State investigators say they can’t because the investigation is ongoing, NBC News reported.
