#PorteOuverte: Parisians Open Their Doors to Strangers Stranded by Attacks

Paris residents were using the hashtag #PorteOuverte — French for "open door" — on Twitter to offer safe haven to strangers stranded after a string of deadly attacks Friday night, NBC News reported.

The hashtag was trending worldwide on Twitter as Parisians tweeted in French and English to let people know where there was room for them to take shelter.

At least six attacks across the city sent Paris into chaos as explosions and shootings were reported at a sold-out rock concert, cafes, and outside a soccer match. The death toll in the attacks rose to 129 Saturday. Of those killed in the attack, 89 alone were slain inside the Bataclan concert hall, according to the Paris prosecutor.

Twitter users in other countries also began using the hashtag to share their delight that social media was being used for a good cause.
