Man Sets Up Target, Shoots Toward Schoolyard: Police

Nassau County authorities went to the man's home in response to a report of BB gun shots from the property

A Long Island man was arrested after setting up a makeshift shooting target near the grounds of an elementary school and firing a rifle toward the schoolyard, authorities said.

Nassau County authorities went to the man's home on Island Channel Road in Seaford on Saturday morning in response to a report of BB gun shots from the property, which is next to the Seaford Harbor Elementary School.

Investigators said Michael Marron, 55, had set up a suit of armor against a fence as a target. It was riddled with bullet holes, including some from a rifle.

The man was arrested, and authorities say he was also in possession of cocaine and pills. He faces multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and prohibitions on the use and possession of firearms. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
