A man said he and fellow Muslims defied demands to help identify Christians traveling with them on a bus when Islamist militants opened fire in Kenya, NBC News reported.
Two people were killed in the attack which took place in Mandera, in northeast Kenya, according to Reuters.
A passenger told Reuters more than 10 militants with al Shabab boarded the bus and ordered Muslim passengers to split away from the Christians, but they refused.
The militants fled the scene, officials said.
