Mo'ne Davis Asks Pennsylvania University to Reinstate Baseball Player After Vulgar Tweet

As if we didn't have enough reasons to love Philadelphia's female phenom Mo'ne Davis, on Monday, she gave us another.

While making an appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter, Davis confirmed that she emailed Bloomsburg University and asked the school to reinstate a baseball player who was recently kicked off the team after a vulgar statement he tweeted about the Taney Dragons pitcher.

"Everyone makes mistakes and everyone needs a second chance,” said Davis.

Bloomsburg announced the dismissal of Joey Casselbery on Twitter, the same forum the junior first baseman used to make a derogatory comment regarding a Disney Channel movie being made about Davis.

'While I admit I was pretty hurt when I read his comments, I felt sad that he was dismissed from the team," Davis said in her email to University President Dr. David Soltz. "I am sure Joey Casselberry has worked very hard to get where he is and dreams of playing in the major leagues ... For this reason, I am asking you to please allow him back on the team so that he can continue to chase his dreams."

The University, however, is standing firm, despite, the heartfelt email.

"Her request demonstrates the type of person she is, her level of maturity and the empathy that her family and coach teach her. Bloomsburg University stands firm on our decision; however, his consequences will be reviewed as is common in disciplinary actions like this," the university said in a statement released Monday afternoon.

Mo'ne Davis was the first girl to earn a win and pitch a shutout in the LLWS last summer, and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
