Man Shot 7 Times Outside Temple Hospital

A man is fighting for his life after he was shot several times outside a Philadelphia hospital Monday night.

Police say the 28-year-old man was on the sidewalk in front of Temple University Hospital at N Broad and Ontario Streets shortly after 9 p.m. when an unknown gunman opened fire.

The victim was shot seven times by the large caliber gun, according to investigators. He was treated in critical condition.

Police say the gunman then fled southbound on Broad Street.

This was one of a slew of deadly shootings Monday that left at least three dead and eight injured in Philadelphia. Despite the slew of violence, homicides remain down about 32 percent in the city while gun assaults are down about 10 percent, according to recent police statistics.

This shooting also happened the night before Temple freshmen began moving into the newly-opened Mitchell & Hilarie Morgan Residence Hall high-rise two miles down N Broad Street.
