Middle School Teacher Handcuffed, Arrested at School Board Meeting

A Louisiana teacher who spoke out against a superintendent’s new contract was handcuffed and arrested during a school board meeting in an incident caught on video, NBC News reported.

Middle school English teacher Deyshia Hargrave called into question the $30,000 raise stipulated in superintendent Jermone Puyau's new contract, which she called a "slap in the face for teachers, cafeteria workers or any other support staff."

A video posted by KATC-TV shows Hargrave complying with a city marshal's orders to leave Monday night's Vermilion Parish School Board meeting in Abbeville, west of New Orleans. Next, she is seen on the hallway floor, screaming as the marshal handcuffs her behind her back.
