Kerry Released From Hospital After Broken Leg Surgery

He was discharged from Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday but will remain in Boston to recover

Secretary of State John Kerry was released Friday from Massachusetts General Hospital after undergoing surgery on a broken leg.

"I'm looking forward now to going home here in Boston for the weekend, being with my family," said Kerry.

The former U.S. senator from Massachusetts said he was also excited by the prospect of returning to Washington.

Kerry broke his right femur on May 31 in a bicycle accident in France. His operation was June 2.

The secretary thanked his supporters and the medical professionals who helped him recover.

"There's not enough I can say about the team here at Mass. General," he said. "They've been absolutely extraordinary."
