A police dog in Ohio died Sunday after a shootout at a grocery store, according to authorities.
K9 officer, Jethro, was struck three times after a gunman opened fire in Canton Saturday morning, NBC affiliate WKYC of Cleveland reported.
Police fired back, striking the suspect in the leg. But Jethro was struck three times, according to a Facebook post by the Canton Police K9 Association.
The bullet missed his vital organs, but one hit the bridge of his muzzle. Police said Sunday that the K9 officer “took a sudden turn for the worse” and died.
