β€˜Entourage' Star Jeremy Piven Among Passengers Stranded at Philly International

A flight carrying "Entourage" star Jeremy Piven was stranded in Philadelphia overnight due to bad weather.

A British Airways Boeing 747 was traveling to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York from London Friday night.

"At about 10:30 p.m. we were making kind of an aggressive landing," said Tracy Scherman of Manhattan, one of the passengers. "All of a sudden we just kind of stopped and we were coasting. It had been about 45 minutes and we were supposed to land 20 minutes ago."

Scherman says they were told by the pilot that there were some technical difficulties and the plane circled around at least twice.

"We were in the air, I'd say, for over an hour after we were supposed to land," she said.

The pilot then told the passengers they were over Long Island and having trouble landing, according to Scherman.

"Finally, 20 minute later, we were all kind of panicking and they said they were going to make an emergency landing in Pennsylvania," she said.

Scherman claims she was later told by the pilot he was trying to land in New York but couldn't due to heavy fog and the plane had little fuel left.

"It was either make a final attempt and no fuel or we land in Pennsylvania," Scherman said. "So he made the right choice."

Scherman says they received little help when the plane finally landed at Philly International.

"The airport didn't stay open and customs knew we were coming," she said. "That was the real problem, that there wasn't anybody to check us through customs."

Officials say the passengers stayed inside the plane as it remained on the runway until they were finally let off around 2 a.m. Saturday

"We were exhausted after 14 hours of flying," Scherman said. "A lot of people, including myself, hadn't gotten any sleep."

The passengers were then taken to a holding area in the airport. They had to stay there for three hours however since customs didn't open until 5 a.m.

"We had to wait until 5 a.m., sitting on the floor of the carpet for customs to open," Scherman said.

A spokeswoman for Philadelphia International told NBC10 the passengers were given snacks, blankets and pillows during that time.

"Then we got more bad news," Scherman said. "They said they weren't going to fly us to JFK on that plane and they would be busing us. But they ran out of buses. They said they would reimburse us if we wanted to take Amtrak home."

Scherman says she made it home around 10 a.m. Saturday.

NBC10 reached out to British Airways for comment but we have not yet heard back from them. A British Airways spokesperson told the New York Daily News the passengers were eventually taken to their destinations. They also apologized to passengers for the inconvenience.

Many of the passengers, including Jeremy Piven, an actor best known for his role as Ari Gold in the hit show "Entourage," shared photos and tweeted about the experience.
