Israel Beefs Up Troops in West Bank, Suspends Palestinian Permits After Tel Aviv Shooting

Wednesday night's shooting was one of the deadliest attacks in an eight-month wave of violence

Israel on Thursday imposed a series of sweeping restrictions on Palestinian movement and deployed hundreds of additional troops to the West Bank in response to a Tel Aviv attack that killed four Israelis, NBC News reported.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Wednesday night shooting at the Sarona Market, one of the deadliest attacks in an eight-month wave of violence. Two suspects were captured. One was wounded.

Israel revoked 83,000 permits for Palestinians living in Gaza and the occupied West Bank to travel abroad and attend Ramadan prayers the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the holy site in the heart of Jerusalem's Old City that Jews call Temple Mount.

The father of one of the two suspects said his son never mentioned anything about the political situation, but noted Israel's occupation of the West Bank and the population's "daily suffering" could well be one of the factors behind the attack.
