An administrator at an Indianapolis private school took his own life amid an investigation into a former basketball coach at the institution by an Internet crimes against children task force, authorities said.
The Marion County Coroner's Office ruled the death of Park Tudor Head of School Dr. Matthew D. Miller as a suicide by hanging, the office told NBC Chicago.
"The entire Park Tudor community is deeply saddened by this sudden loss," school president Rob Brown said in a statement on the school's website. "We ask that you keep Dr. Miller's family, our students and our community in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time."
The 46-year-old's death comes weeks after the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce searched the school as part of an investigation into a former basketball coach at the institution who abruptly resigned last month, the school confirmed. NBC Chicago is not naming the former employee as no charges have been announced in the investigation.
"This search warrant was administrative in nature and there shouldn't be any disruption of the student's learning environment," the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement to NBC affiliate WTHR at the time.
The school forwarded to NBC Chicago a note sent to parents addressing speculation that Dr. Miller's death was linked to law enforcement's investigation of the former basketball coach.
"We want you to know that throughout that investigation, we have been repeatedly assured by law enforcement that neither the School nor any of its employees (including Dr. Miller) were targets of their investigation," the school said in the letter to parents.
The task force is the same one that investigated the child pornography case against ex-Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle. Fogle is currently appealing the more than 15-year prison sentence he received for possessing child pornography and having sex with underage prostitutes.

The school confirmed that the investigation into the former basketball coach is still underway.
Dr. Miller's body was found around noon on Saturday in the garage of his family's home which sits adjacent to the school's campus, according to The Indianapolis Star, citing police reports.
Students, parents and community members mourned Miller in a post on the school's Facebook page.
The school says on its website it has a 100 percent college placement rate. Tuition ranges from $16,430 per year for prekindergarten to $20,170 per year for grades 6 through 12.
