Grandparent: Teacher Hangs Boy From Chalkboard by Belt

Rockdale County Public Schools in Georgia said it's conducting a "full investigation"

School Employee Hangs 5-Year-Old Boy From Chalkboard

The grandmother of a 5-year-old special needs student from Georgia is upset after a paraprofessional allegedly hung the boy from his clothing on a hook above the chalkboard April 28. According to the grandmother, Tracy Davis, the teacher and another paraprofessional watched and did nothing. "There is nothing that justifies this," said Davis. The Rockdale County school superintendent is taking disciplinary action against all three classroom educators. (Published Wednesday, May 4, 2016)

A Georgia woman said her grandson's teacher made him hang by his belt from the top of a chalkboard as punishment.

Tracy Davis told WSB-TV that on Thursday, the principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in Conyers found her 5-year-old grandson — who has special needs — hanging from a chalkboard. The principal said the boy was screaming and in distress.

Davis said the state Division of Family and Children Services interviewed the boy and learned this wasn't the first time the teacher had done this. She said the school told her it's disciplining two teachers and a paraprofessional because of the incident.

Rockdale County Public Schools told the news station in a statement that the district "takes all matters of this kind very seriously and is currently conducting a full investigation."
