The mayor of Temixco, Mexico, was shot and killed Saturday, the day after she took office, NBC News reported.

Gisela Mota, a member of the leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution, was formally installed as mayor on Friday. According to a newspaper in Mexico City, four armed gunmen attacked Mota at her home.
