Florida Executes Serial Killer Oscar Ray Bolin

A man convicted of killing three women in 1986 was executed on Thursday in Florida, NBC News reported.

Oscar Ray Bolin was executed after the U.S. Supreme Court denied his final appeal for a stay.

Bolin was convicted of kidnapping, stabbing and bludgeoning three young women from the Tampa area in 1986 and was executed specifically for the murder of Teri Lynn Matthews.

In his appeals, he argued that he deserved more time to prove his innocence, and that someone else was the killer. His appeals were denied by state and federal courts.

The 53-year-old was the first inmate to be executed in 2016. The time of death was reported as 10:16 p.m., according to The Associated Press.
