The 17-year-old girl slain in a Marina del Rey supermarket parking lot Wednesday had been visiting her sister for the first time and was considering moving to Southern California from Texas, her distraught father said.
Kristine Carman's father described the daughter he lost as "full of love" and said he wants her killer found.
"It was her first time visiting and she saw how beautiful it was," John Carman said. "She had just come out of Texas for the first time. She's only 17 so she really had some high hopes."
Police say Kristine Carman died after she was shot in the head while sitting in a car at the Villa Marina Marketplace parking lot.
Kristine was in an SUV with three other girls, including her sister, when an armed man approached their vehicle and an altercation ensued, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
In a Facebook post, the victim's sister, Lacey Carman, said Kristine was shot during a robbery gone wrong.
John Carman told NBC4 via Skype that he wants the person who killed Kristine to be found.

"She was a sweet girl. She was full of love," he said.
John Carman said Kristine liked Southern California and was interested in moving to the area, and attending UCLA.
"Somebody took my little girl. Somebody took my little girl away from me and I just want to find out who," he said.
Police were still searching for the suspected gunman.
LAPD detectives were hoping surveillance video in the area will help them find the shooter, who drove away from the scene in a gray SUV headed toward the 90 Freeway.
