F-16 Fighter Jets Collide Mid-Air Over Georgia

The pilots were ejected safely. They were treated at a hospital and released

Two F-16 fighter jets collided in mid-air over Georgia late Tuesday, but the pilots ejected safely, officials said, NBC News reported.

The jets had been on "routine night-flying operations" when the incident occurred at around 9:15 p.m. ET, said the South Carolina Air National Guard.

The pilots — assigned to the 169th Fighter Wing out of McEntire Joint National Guard Base in South Carolina — were found and treated at a hospital and released, said Col. Nicholas Gentile of the 169th Fighter Wing Commander.

Last Thursday, a pilot with the Navy's elite Blue Angels squadron was killed in Tennessee — just hours after an Air Force Thunderbird pilot was forced to eject from his jet in Colorado.
