Man With Loaded Gun Arrested Outside Disneyland Entrance

The suspect was arrested on the walkway between Disneyland and California Adventure, according to police

A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded gun near a Disneyland theme park entrance is due in court in Anaheim next week.

Police released details Tuesday about the July 9 arrest of Percival Aguilar Agoncillo, of San Francisco. He was taken into custody after being reported by witnesses as a suspicious subject with a firearm around 9 p.m., Anaheim Police Department Lt. Eric Trapp said.

"They saw a bulge, they called Disney security and Disney security called (Anaheim police)," said Sgt. Daron Wyatt, of the Anaheim Police Department.

Disneyland personnel alerted Anaheim police and undercover officers, who arrested Agoncillo on the walkway between Disneyland and California Adventure. He walked through a security checkpoint without employees noticing the loaded handgun, police said.

Anaheim police called the case a rare occurrence.

Agoncillo was arrested on suspicion of possessing a loaded gun without a permit and later released on bail of $20,000, Trapp said.

A post-arrest background check found that Agoncillo was on probation in San Mateo County for carrying a loaded gun, Trapp said.

Disneyland referred a request for comment to Anaheim police. Agoncillo is scheduled for arraignment Aug. 27.

He could not immediately be reached for comment.

Weapons of any kind and objects that appear to be weapons are prohibited at Disneyland. Park visitors must pass through a screening and security area at entrances.
