Bruins Legend Ray Bourque Charged in OUI Crash

Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque is accused of driving drunk and rear-ending a minivan in Andover, Massachusetts.

The defenseman, inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, faces charges of OUI and following too closely.

According to Andover Police, Bourque was driving his Mercedes-Benz GL450 when he rear-ended a Toyota Sienna minivan around 11:30 p.m. on Lowell Street.

The crash took place in a construction zone, and no one was injured.

Police determined that Bourque was intoxicated at the time of the crash and arrested him.

Officials confirm Bourque was released on bail. He will be arraigned Tuesday at Lawrence District Court. No attorney information was immediately available.

Bourque played 21 seasons in the NHL, spending all but his final 94 games as a member of the Bruins. He amassed 395 goals and 1,111 assists. Combined, he had 1,506 points — meaning he was just 12 shy of being a point-a-game player in his long career.

The Bruins did not have any comment on Bourque's arrest.
