Boater Arrested After 72-Foot Yacht Washes Ashore on Palm Beach

Thomas Henry Baker told police he had been drinking Long Island Iced Teas before running the boat aground

A Florida boater was arrested Wednesday after he abandoned a 72-foot yacht when it ran aground on Palm Beach, authorities said.

Thomas Henry Baker, 63, was charged with boating under the influence after his yacht, named "Time Out," washed ashore near the Palm Beach Inlet, WPTV reported.

Baker told police he had been drinking Long Island Iced Teas before failing to "navigate his vessel into the Palm Beach Inlet and ran the vessel into the beach,"

Baker, of Belle Isle, near Orlando, was booked into the Palm Beach County jail, records showed. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

The U.S. Coast Guard said they were told the boat ran aground around 2:15 a.m. No injuries were reported.

A towboat later removed the vessel.
