Bull Runs Loose in Baltimore, Shot by Police

A bull that escaped from a city slaughterhouse ran loose on downtown Baltimore streets before being shot by police Friday morning.

Police said the bull escaped from a slaughterhouse in west Baltimore. After receiving calls from concerned local business owners, police found the bull at the intersection of Charles and Biddle streets in the Mount Vernon neighborhood, home to many bars, restaurants and shops.

Several passersby noticed the bull walking and running on the downtown streets, including on a busy highway, and took to social media to share their photos and videos of the bull.

It didn't take long for #Baltimorebull to start trending on Twitter.

Authorities shot the bull shortly after 10:15 a.m., but the Associated Press reported that police spokesperson Sgt. Sarah Connolly was unsure whether it was killed.
