Baby in Car Wounded in New Jersey Shooting

A toddler suffered a facial wound Saturday when the parked car he was sitting in with his father was sprayed with bullets, family members told NBC 4 News at the scene in New Jersey.

The shooting happened around 2 p.m. EST in Jersey City just after the family had stopped at a local post office.

A bullet pierced the cheek of 18-month-old Mina Beshay and a small shard of glass from the car's shattered window cut his face.

Surgeons at the Jersey City Medical Center removed the bullet from his cheek and family members said Mina will recover.

Police were searching for a shooter in the area of Harrison and Bergen avenues. Investigators said they believe the family wasn't a target of the gunman.
