Connecticut Mom Left Infant in Car Twice to Go to Gym: Police

Police in Connecticut have arrested a mother they say left her infant child in the car twice while she went to the gym.

Norwalk police responded to a parking garage Wednesday for reports of a crying baby and found the infant in a car with the windows up.

Police say 46-year-old Hiroko Kurihara, of Stamford, returned to the vehicle as fire officials were getting into the car.

Police say the mother left the child in the car for about one hour in the morning, and again for about 30 minutes in the afternoon.

Temperatures climbed into the upper 80s on Wednesday in the Connecticut city.

Kurihara was arrested and charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of leaving an unattended child in the car. It's unclear if she has a lawyer.

She was held on a $10,000 bond.
