$5,000 Reward Offered After Puppy Set on Fire

A $5,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible of intentionally setting a puppy on fire, officials in Southern California said.

The 8-week-old Chihuahua mix was found whimpering and smelling of burned flesh Monday in an alley behind a home in the 900 block of Loma Vista Street in Pomona, the Inland Valley Human Society said in a news release.

"The dog's hair was singed and there was visible damage to the skin," the news release said.

The puppy was taken to the Inland Valley Humane Society shelter with second-degree burns over much of its body. It was in critical condition and under 24-hour care.

The dog had no ID tag or microchip.

The IVHS and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was investigating.

Anyone with any information is urged to call the IVHS or SPCA.
