43 Farm Animals Found Fatally Shot in South Texas

South Texas authorities are investigating after more than 40 farm animals were found shot to death in a pasture.

Investigators believe the animals were killed over a two night span last week in Wharton County. Sgt. Scott Grosser with the county sheriff's office said 43 animals, including sheep, rams and emus were found dead.

Deputies believe the animals were shot at close range. Grosser said he couldn't speculate why someone would shoot the animals or if it was the act of one or more people.

KPRC-TV reports the animals' owner discovered the carcasses on Friday and Saturday.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff's office.
