Double-Decker Tour Bus Catches Fire in Northwest D.C.

A double-decker tour bus burst into flames near George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Thursday evening, sending a cloud of smoke over the area.

The bus caught fire at 23rd and I streets NW, the Metropolitan Police Department said. Firefighters arrived on the scene about 4:30 p.m. and saw flames near the rear engine compartment.

The bus was unoccupied at the time, and no one was hurt by the blaze. Its cause is under investigation.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
