A young man is hospitalized, shot in the head over the weekend in what police are calling a gang-related shooting.
Carlsbad Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2300 block of Pio Pico Drive early Saturday morning.
Witnesses said the shooting had taken place out in the street, and the 18-year-old victim had been taken to the hospital by friends, according to police.
Raul Gonzalez, 20, has been identified as the suspect. He was arrested by Carlsbad Police during a traffic stop on Sunday evening.
Gonzalez was arrested for attempted murder, assault with a firearm, participation in a street gang and a probation violation. On Monday he was held without bail, according to the North County Times.
The victim's name has not been released.
